CSI’s other cornerstone publications are the Stateline News, originally the Stateline Shopping News, and the Janesville Messenger. The Stateline News serves the Beloit/Clinton/Orfordville areas in Wisconsin, and the South Beloit, Roscoe, Rockton and Machesney Park areas in Illinois’ Winnebago County. Circulation exceeds 30,000 on Wednesdays and 40,000 on Sundays.

The Stateline Shopping News was established in March 1968 by Martin Karstaedt, when he recognized the need for a free-circulation shopper in the Beloit area, where his family resided. The paper’s office is located on Willowbrook Road in Beloit; production and printing take place in Delavan.

A milestone in the history of CSI occurred in 2003 and 2004, when the Stateline Shopping News became the Stateline News and underwent a comprehensive facelift that emphasized improved content and an appearance that incorporated the finest aspects of newspaper design. The paper has since won state and national awards for general excellence, and has served as a model for similar projects with the company’s other award-winning publications.

In 2009, the company won six national awards from the 4,000-member Association of Free Community Papers, including third place in the Best of Show category for Walworth County Sunday. Other awards recognized advertising content and design, feature writing and commentary in various CSI publications.
