“It’s gorgeous,” “It’s huge!” and “Wow.” That was the general consensus of the crowd that gathered at the new Beloit Public Library Saturday morning for a ribbon-cutting and open house celebration. After nearly a month without library services, the day couldn’t come soon enough for those who frequent the library. The library resumed services Monday morning.

“They’re so many people who are excited to get back into this building to see it, who want to get back to using library services,” said Jeni Schomber, the head of the library’s youth services. “It’s something that Beloit has deserved for a long time, and we’re glad that day is finally here.”
At Saturday’s open house, children pushed passed chamber of commerce members and city officials and rushed into the main corridor as soon as the ceremonial ribbon was snipped.
Those who worked on the project were impressed with patrons’ fervor.
“When I do a corporate building … a crowd (from) town doesn’t turn out to love the building,” said Bill Robison of Milwaukee architecture and interior design firm Engberg Anderson.
